About Science Museum

Initially the Science Museum was founded in the 1857 as part of the Victoria and Albert Museum. However, in 1909 it was re-established as a separate entity. Currently ranked as the 5th top museum nationally, it is located adjacent to the Natural History Museum on the Exhibition road, London.

The museum has more than 300,000 objects from microchips to aeroplanes and constantly keeps increasing due to on going acquisitions. Some famous objects are the first ever steam engine, Stephenson's Rocket etc. The fact that this science museum has used an innovative approach which combines both art and science is exquisite! It organizes Science Nights and All Night Extravaganza with a Scientific Twist. These allow visitors to witness science activities, sleepover at the museum and watch a 3D IMAX film. Quite a treat indeed, especially for everyone very curious! It also has a very informative library.

The Science Museum is open from 10.00am-6.00pm daily, except on 24th-26th December. Entry is free except for the IMAX, special exhibitions and stimulators. The buildings are disabled friendly.
