About Saatchi Gallery

Famous as a contemporary art gallery “The Saatchi Gallery” was opened by Charles Saatchi in 1985 to share his ever growing art collection with the public. It's been housed in a few different locations and is now at the Duke of York's old Headquarters. (Just off Kings Road)

Unlike the Tate Modern, there is no permanent collection at the Saatchi Gallery.  Instead the galleries are given over to a single exhibition, which typically runs for about three months. Exhibitions have included highly successful showcases for contemporary Chinese art. The gallery is usually separated into areas which range from US Artists dealing with minimalism; to Damien Hurst type new British Artists, finishing off with Shows and exhibitions.

Particularly eye catching is the Korean art work on display. There are paintings, installations and sculptures to be seen in this eye catching gallery . This is the gallery to visit if you are a lover of controversial art. This is also a gallery that houses work that will shock the conservative art lover so it's important that you approach the exhibits with an open mind.

The Saatchi Gallery has become a major influence on art in Britain and is famous for courting media controversy. The exciting thing about this gallery is many of its first time exhibitors are propelled into superstardom within the art world after being shown here.   So for a titillating and thought provoking experience , visit the Saatchi gallery – you won't be disappointed!
