About Bank of England Museum

The Bank of England Museum, established in the 1694, depicts the historical and current roles of the Bank of England in the United Kingdom's economic development. It is located on the Bartholomew Lane at the heart of London City.

Although visiting to check on the roles of the bank in economic development could sound a little boring, you would not regret visiting this museum. The museum showcases many gold bars from earlier times to the present, pictures, furniture, statues, silver, an exclusive collection of very rare notes and coins, the pottery belonging to the Roman era that was uncovered while the rebuilding it in the 1930s etc. Its presentations are done with the latest technology.

Admission to the museum is free of charge. The Bank of England Museum is open on weekdays from 10.00-17.00 and on the day of the Lord Mayor's show, excluding the public and bank holidays.

By Tube : Bank station on the Northern, Central, Waterloo & City lines and the Docklands
                  Light Railway.

                  Monument, Cannon Street or Mansion House stations on the District and Circle lines.


By Train : Liverpool Street

By Bus   : 8, 11, 23, 25, 26, 47, 48, 133, 141, 149 and 242 stop in Threadneedle Street.
